Title: "Fetch With Ruff Ruffman"

Review: "Fetch With Ruff Ruffman" is a funny series because Fetch is about six people who always come and have to go on journeys that teach them something important or they did it just for fun. Rarely all of them go on journeys so the kids that don't take the half time quiz show. After everyone is back and after points and bonus points there is a prize in the Fetch mailbox for the person who wins the most points. The funny part is that sometimes the prize is good and sometimes really bad.

Title: "Melting Stones"
Author: Tamora Pierce

Review: "Melting Stones" is a book about a girl named Evumeimei Dingzai who used to live on the streets of a town called, Chammur. Four years ago she began her training as a stone mage under Dedicate Rosethorn, who is a green mage. Rosethorn, Dedicate Myrrhtide, a water mage, and Evvy are on a journey to the Battle Islands in order to investigate and solve the problem of why all the plants and animals are suddenly dying there. I thought that the story was interesting and a good read but I realized after finishing the book that there is a prequel to the story. That explains why I didn’t understand the characters personalities nor their story of where they came from and when. I did like the main character Evvy because she thought differently than most teenage girls her age. Rosethorn was a shrewd woman who spoke opening about her thoughts and feelings. Myrrhtide and Evvy didn’t get along from the beginning because of Myrrhtide’s impatient and rude behavior. Though towards the end they both reached a truce and became friendly with one another. Luvo is a rock who can talk and was a part of a mountain. He is now Evvy’s traveling companion and the only one who talks some sense into her. As a stone mage Evvy feels a certain distance from people and hates them because they don’t see the world as she does. I guess it makes sense because mages can do certain things and have special abilities which normal humans do not appreciate. I liked the setting of the book and how there weren’t too many characters involved. Evvy’s attitude is befitting of a teenager and Rosethorn is a strict woman who quickly snaps but knows that there is a proper place and time to discuss something unlike Myrrhtide.

Title: "Fablehaven"
Author: Brandon Mull

Review: "Fablehaven" is a book about Kendra Sorenson and her brother Seth who are being sent to live with their Grandfather and Grandmother Sorenson because their parents are going on a two week cruise. Their grandparents live in a beautiful mansion with a pool, furnished garden, and a forest also on their property. Grandfather Sorenson is the caretaker of Fablehaven a preserve for magical creatures that might become extinct because of human pollution and hunting of their kind. Mortals can’t see these creatures but Kendra and Seth figure out the secret of Fablehaven but not before Seth breaks the rules and enters the forest. An organization known as the Society of the Evening Star plots to destroy the preserves of magical creatures all around the world. This book has become my favorite so far and I want to read the rest of the books in the series. I thought that the plot was unique, the story was suspenseful, and the main characters were realistic and funny. Grandpa Sorenson is fair when dealing with situations such as giving Kendra and Seth punishment for breaking the rules. Although he says he is out of practice with children he seems to enjoy their company and knows how to discipline them. Grandma Sorenson is very strong and is a determined woman who cares deeply for her grandchildren. The funny thing about this book is that Kendra and Seth’s dad is totally oblivious to the fact that his parents are the caretakers of Fablehaven. I mean I would have thought by now, he should have figured it out, seeing that he lived most of his life with his parents. Then got married, moved, had two kids, and still hasn’t figured out about the preserve. One thing that is unusual about the story is that Grandfather and Grandmother Sorenson never told their son or daughter-in-law about the refuge. Generally, the story was great and I really enjoyed reading it.

Title: "Wish List"
Author: Eoin Colfer

Review: "Wish List" is a book about Megan Finn, a girl whose mother recently died and now lives with her stepfather, Franco. Belch is a criminal and has Megan, his partner in crime assist him with weird tasks such as stealing from old people and so on. One night, they sneak into Lowrie McCall’s house along with Belch’s dog, Raptor. But, they are confronted by Lowrie with a shotgun and Raptor attacks Lowrie and bites his leg. Belch orders Raptor to let go of the old man because Megan has the gun and it is pointed at the dog. Megan is genuinely concerned for the old man and had no intention of hurting him. Belch chases Megan, trying to kill her and accidently the gas tank next to them blows up. Belch, Megan, and the dog are killed and she wakes up in the afterlife tunnel. She is about to drift into the tunnel of Hell but ends up in the tunnel between Heaven and Hell. Her good and bad deeds are equal and she has a chance to go back to Earth and help Lowrie McCall in order to reach Heaven. Lowrie McCall has a wish list which contains certain things that he regrets not doing in his life. Megan and Lowrie have to travel across the city to complete the list, once that is done Megan will be able to enter Heaven. The book met my expectations and I liked the humor that was included in the story to make it interesting. Megan and Lowrie became good friends and enjoyed each other’s company. The book wasn’t too long but the ending was satisfying. The story was a great read and I would recommend it to teens who like to read suspenseful books.

Title: "The Last Knight"
Author: Hilari Bell

Review: "The Last Knight" is a book about Sir Michael Sevenson, a knight errant and his squire, Fisk. Michael decides to do his first honorable act as a knight by rescuing Lady Ceciel from a tower. Lady Ceciel is a damsel in distress to them, they help her escape, and deliver her to her steward, Hackle. Later on in the story Fisk and Michael learn that she was imprisoned there because she poisoned her husband. Both young men go to Baron Sevenson, Michael’s father and he tells Michael that the only way to redeem himself is to bring back Lady Ceciel. Fisk was a con artist who was in jail before Michael paid his redemption money to the court. Also, Baron Sevenson tells Michael that if he brings her back he will become the estate steward of Seven Oaks, under the supervision of Baron Seven Oaks, no matter who he might be till death. Seven Oaks is the property that belongs to Michael’s Father and the Baron Seven Oaks, is his father. The book is very adventurous and funny despite the boring parts where the formalities take place. Michael is an extremely honest young man whose honesty sometimes brings him more harm than good. He isn’t clever and shrewd like Fisk but understands his responsibility and the position that he is in. I like his personality and think it is good for a heroic character in the book to be like him. Fisk, on the other hand doesn’t trust people that easily but is good at learning new things. Since being a con artist requires skill and years of practice he seems to know what to say and how to act in hard situations. I love it when Fisk teases Michael by calling him Noble Sir and Michael just ignores him. Although, Fisk wants to get out of being a squire I admire the fact that he never runs away but instead helps Michael in dire circumstances. All the characters had a nice charm to them that made the book intriguing and worth reading.

Title: "Jade Green, A Ghost Story"
Author: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Review: "Jade Green" is a story about Judith Sparrow, an orphan who is sent to South Carolina to live with her Uncle Geoffrey. The only condition that is set for her to be allowed to live there is that she is to bring nothing green with her. But, Judith doesn’t want to leave the photo of her mother behind that is wrapped in green silk. The rumor is that if the color green is brought into the house the ghost of Jade Green will appear. Jade Green was a street urchin who was taken in by Uncle Geoffrey and her favorite color was Green. A couple years before, she was found dead at the door to the attic and her death was declared suicidal. The book had a great suspenseful plot with a little bit of romance but mostly focused on what happens when Judith brings green into the house. Her cousin Charles, who still lives with his father is 40 years old and is a pervert, so she does her best to avoid him. He is not a man of good character and lives off his father’s money to make businesses that never flourish. Mrs. Hastings is the housekeeper and she is a very warm gentle woman. I liked the parts in the book where Judith does everything she can to please her Uncle because he is the only family she has left. Uncle Geoffrey was really funny sometimes but other times he openly showed his anger for his son Charles. The setting of the book was wonderful because Uncle Geoffrey’s house is close to the beach, the town, and is a big but old home. The author explained the characters very well and it was well written. In some parts the story was thrilling and the ending didn’t turn out like I thought it would, which is a good thing. I sat up all night finishing the book and the scary parts were a good change to some of the bad parts in the book. I wish the author had included some action and maybe another character to make it interesting. I would suggest that teens read this book if they like to read really good ghost stories.

Title: "Skyclan manga: After the Flood"
Author: Erin Hunter

Review: S
kyclan has immediately started to rebuild, but some things stand in the way. Not just branches, bad water, and twoleg waste, its also unsure warriors. After Billystorm discovers Silverthorn hidden in the twoleg waste, probably washed down into the gorge by the flood, three warriors think they might become kittypets.

Leafstar also discovers after finding kits playing with a ball moss saying it was their special nest from the twolegs that Billystorm told her kits that they could live in his twoleg nest with him because it never floods, Leafstar has a fight with him and tells him to get out. When the kits go missing and Sol starts raising high suspicions, Leafstar has to save Billystorm from an angry patrol and save kits from... guess who?

Title: "Jeremy Fink and The Meaning of Life"
Author: Wendy Mass

Review: "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life" is a truly incredible book. You read it in 7th grade (If you're in the Mahwah Public School System), so what does that tell you? Anyways, it is just a book you want to keep reading and never put down. I won't spoil anything, I'll just give a sentence summary. Jeremy Fink is about a guy and his friend that go on an adventure to find the 8 keys to open the 8 locks on a box that Jeremy's dad left for Jeremy before he (the dad) died, and the box says on it, "The Meaning of Life" and "Only open on Jeremy's 13th birthday" which is coming. Seems pretty interesting, right? The end left me curled up in a ball on my bed crying. Want to know? Go read it and You won't regret it!

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of? This book reminded me of other Wendy Mass books just because of her writing style and the movie, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" because they have similar storylines.

Title: "The Missing: Book 3 Sabotaged"
Author: Margaret Peterson Haddix

Review: "Sabotaged" is the third book in "The Missing" series. This one is about Jonah and Katherine who are time travelers. They help children who have been taken from their time period and brought to the twentieth century. However, it is vital that Katherine and Jonah replace the missing kids properly. For instance, they must return back into their traces in which they had left behind in order to unscathe history. Jonah and Katherine are aided by JB who is a future time traveler and main leader. Specifically, they are returning a girl named Andrea who is Virginia Dare, back to the Roanoke Colony which was found in ruins with all of its inhabitants missing. Her grandfather was John White, the Governor of the colony and he left to get supplies but when he returned he found his colony in ruins, the people had disappeared, and the only clue was the word Croatoan carved into a wood post or log. This book was better than the second book in the series, called "Sent." I wished that the author would have introduced a new character in this book besides the dog that travels with them, known as Dare. Andrea is a new character but she is just another one of the missing kids from history like Chip and Alex. Chip and Alex are Jonah’s friends and they traveled back in time in the first book and second book of the series. Also, the true motives of JB aren’t clear in this story but one thing that we know is that someone is trying sabotage their time traveling plans. Katherine isn’t as irritating as usual which is a good sign but Andrea was a real pest. Jonah couldn’t say or do anything without having either Katherine or Andrea be mad with him. He tried to take control of the situation but somehow the plot got more complicated and unusual by every chapter. In the beginning, I was bored with the bickering between the characters but the story picked up pace and got exciting. The book wasn’t that bad but isn't my favorite book of the series so far.

Title: "Article 5"
Author: Kristen Simmons

Review: "Article 5" is a book about how the Bill of Rights have been replaced by Moral Statutes which limit the people from freely expressing themselves and all activities are monitored by the government. The government of the United States has taken away the police and put in their place soldiers to maintain rule and order. People are now being arrested for small acts of disobedience and the majority of them never return home. The main character is Ember Miller who lives with her defiant mother and has learned to become invisible. One day her mother is arrested for violating Article 5 of the Moral Statutes and the arresting officer is none other than Chase Jennings, the boy she loves. The book is the first in the "Article 5" series and met my expectations. Ember was annoying sometimes but she has a strong will to see through things till the end. Her observation skills were good and she usually took matters into her own hands. Chase was a typical male character that was handsome, tall, young, and a solider. He was quite a boring character until the good action parts came in and he became of some use. The story was written from Ember’s point of view but it was quite clear that Chase had become brainwashed but not stupid. This story is probably the very first I have read that is realistic, I can imagine something like this happening in 10 to 15 years from now. The bad part was when the author dragged the suspense a little too much, to the point that I was ready to close the book. Overall, this book is a good summer read that makes me excited to read the next book in the series.

Title: "The Lost Hero"

Review: For fans of Percy Jackson, "The Lost Hero" is a great follow-up. It is about a young boy named Jason who wakes up on a bus with his friends, Leo and Piper. He appears to have amnesia, and he doesn't remember how he ended up on the bus. Soon they arrive at Camp Half-Blood, where they find out that someone named Percy has gone missing. "The Lost Hero" is the start of an all new series that involves Percy, Jason, and all other characters from Percy Jackson's adventures. Like I said, this series is a great follow-up to Percy Jackson. And for fans that liked the book, the sequel is titled "The Son of Neptune."

Review: The sequel to "The Lost Hero," which was the start of a follow-up series to Percy Jackson, "The Son of Neptune" is featuring Percy Jackson. The title implies that features a son of Neptune, the Roman form of Poseidon. It starts with Percy being chased by these "snake-haired ladies." He soon ends up at Camp Jupiter, the Roman version of Camp Half-Blood. There he finds Hazel and Frank. Review: Fans of mythology will be pleased when they read "The Red Pyramid." It is about two young kids, Carter and Sadie Kane, who have been living away from each other for six years. But the siblings are reunited on one Christmas Eve, when their father takes them to a British museum. At the museum, their father summons a being that causes an enormous explosion, and their father is nowhere to be found. They discover the secrets about Egyptian mythology and discover that their father, Dr. Julius Kane, was a true magician. They learn their powers and must face the fact that an evil Egyptian god, Set, is waking, and they must try and stop him. From the author of Percy Jackson comes the first book of a trilogy about Egyptian myths and legends. Fans of Percy will enjoy this book.

Though I think the most enjoyable way to read this is to switch back and forth between the "City of Bones" Series since characters in those books are revealed in this series making it more mind provoking to read, and allows the reader to imagine what could of happened then to get the Shadow hunters that roam NYC today.

Title: "Finale"
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick

Review: "Finale" is the last book in the "Hush-Hush" series. As the deadline comes to a draw and Nora and Patch must make a decision on which side to fight on, Nephilim or Fallen Angels, they start to become desperate. They will do anything for each other and it shows. This heartwarming last book in this series is a must read and hopefully will be just as addicting as I thought it was.

Title: "Silence"
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick

Review: "Silence" was just waiting for me to talk about it. The third book in the "Hush-Hush" series is just like the previous before it, filled with mystery suspense, and love. Although the main character, Nora, cannot seem to remember anything recent about her life she finds herself thinking of the color black, and who wears black, her favorite person in the world, Patch, although she just cannot remember him. This book is different from many because it basically rewrites how the two main characters met, and if they can fall in love. Although it is like reading something again I would not skip this book, it was just as enticing as the first two!

Title: "Crescendo"
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick

Review: "Crescendo" was not a letdown. As in most romantic series the second book is usually when the guy and girl break up, but this series was different. The guy, Patch, is always helping Nora and will always show up when needed. Girls will not miss Patch because he never really leaves. This was another of the very addictive books in the "Hush-Hush" series and I recommend it to people who like the "Fallen" series.

Title: "Hush-Hush"
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick

Review: "Hush-Hush" was an incredible book I thought. It kept me guessing all the way to the end, I had no idea who would be an enemy or a friend. As the main character, Nora, has her life changed for better or for worse is hard to tell. When she meets a suspicious guy named Patch she must decide on her own if he is more good than bad. Though she tends to make impulsive decisions I think in the end she was dead on, for her choices. This is a highly addicting book that is filled with romance, mystery, and comedy.

Review: The last book in the "Unearthly" series was very captivating. As the main characters grow up and leave for college it was easy to see their point of view since I will be doing the same soon. Starting a new life in a new place, but only to be haunted by the past. As the main characters try to figure out their futures they are entangled in a very complicated web that has them watching their every move. If you read the first two books this is a definite third to read!

Title: "Unearthly"
Author: Cynthia Hand

Review:
This was an interesting book because the reader had no idea what was going on as did the main characters. As part of an Angel Bloodline mystery and suspense come with the job description. The main character Clara always sees this person in her vision, the one she is suppose to save, but what happens if she does not save this person, what happens if she follows true love instead? This is a great paranormal and romance novel that will have you wondering what happens next?

Review: The second book in the "Matched" Trilogy was thought provoking and adventurous. As new characters are introduced sympathies go out to the ones that lose their lives thanks to the constant war. Since this was less of a romance novel I did not enjoy it as much but thought it was still good to read, because of the possibility of what will happen at the end of the book. This is a great Trilogy for younger teens!

In a world not like ours two opposite people, a man and a woman, are forced to finish a quest to protect themselves and the creatures around them. Once you have read "Divergent" by Veronica Roth, you need to read "Free Four," which is Four's view on the chapter of the knife throwing incident. Title: "Bewitching Season"
Author: Marissa Doyle

Review: "Bewitching Season" by Marissa Doyle is a book about two twin sisters and daughters of a Viscount, named Peresphone and Penelope Leland. The setting of the book is in England, in the year 1837 when young girls and boys would go to the Season to find suitable spouses. Peresphone and Penelope are 17 years old and are about to attend the Season, a ball that invites honorable Lords and Ladies to dance with one another and find their soul mates. I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would because the author added in the fact that they were witches as well. That seemed to give the book a more suspenseful and interesting plot. Just when I had thought that I finally understood Peresphone, since the novel was written from her point of view, she would do something ridiculous or sudden change would occur in the plot. Peresphone was a hard character to appreciate because of her self-loathing attitude after reading the first 50 pages of the book. Penelope was a little bit more tolerable because of her easy going friendly personality that made me warm up to her faster than any other character. Additionally, Charles Leland, their younger 11 year old brother was put in the story to make me laugh whenever the story got dull or even paced. The parents of the three siblings were typical in the sense that the mother was strong and obviously led the household while their father was a bookworm who cared deeply for his daughters. I have read about parents that are like this in many books which made me familiar with their situation but their father still has a say in the decisions that concern his house and family. Another element of the book that I loved was how the romance was present in the book but two main characters couldn't talk about their feelings with one another. Instead it was more of a game of cat and mouse where one character just assumed the feelings of the other which dragged the story. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this young adult romance book with magic being involved and how historical figures made the story's setting more realistic and imaginative. I would recommend this book to teens who are willing to stick to it no matter what and I hope they will like this just as much as I did.

Title: "Betraying Season"
Author: Marissa Doyle

Review: "Betraying Season" by Marissa Doyle is a book written from the point of view of Penelope Leland, a witch and daughter of a Viscount. She decides that her magic is not as good as her twin sister, Peresphone Leland, and decides to go to Ireland. She will be staying there with her former governess Melusine Allardyce to study properly, who is now known as Mrs. Carrighar. Penelope by chance meets Lady Keating, her son Niall, and her daughter Doireann. Niall is supposed to make Penelope fall in love with him because it is a part of his mother’s plan, but then he falls for her and so does she. Penelope’s former governess is expecting and that makes Penelope lonely but she spends her time with either Lady Keating or Niall. Also, she joins a magic class that is taught by Melusine’s father-in-law Mr. Carrighar but is not welcomed by the male students in the class because of her gender and nationality. I felt that this sequel to the first book in the series was much more interesting and had additional drama in it. Penelope is different than other girls her age because she is not a flirt but is honest and genuinely caring towards others. I liked her personality but then she becomes all flustered when she is with Niall, which is alright but sometimes it got really annoying because she believed him and Lady Keating so easily. I thought that she would be more on guard or wouldn’t care for Niall but it turned out to be that she was a typical female character. Niall was my favorite character because I thought it was funny that he would comfort himself by saying that charming a young pretty lady beat reading all day. He seemed to take the situation lightly and underestimated how far his mother would go to achieve her goals. Another thing I found interesting was how the author makes a point indirectly in the story about how when you trust someone so much and they break it one can lose hope in that person. When the person you love breaks your trust that gives one further pain than when strangers do it. When Penelope trusted Niall but he ruined her faith in him, she couldn’t believe in him anymore. It seemed to be a very significant point that the writer cleverly added in without making it too obvious. Generally, I enjoyed the story and I would suggest that teens who appreciate long romantic stories involving magic read this book.

Title: "The Chemo Kid"
Author: Robert Lipsyte

Review: "The Chemo Kid" is about a junior in High School, Fred Bauer who is an invisible guy at school with two main friends, Jon and Jeff. During the prom he discovers that Roger Sharkey, the son of the mayor, is a drug dealer and gives Tank Ganz and his football crew steroids. Tank Ganz is the school’s football captain and is always at odds with Roger but Tank and his team pay well for the drugs. Also, he finds a huge lump on his neck that turns out to be a tumor from cancer. The doctor decides to give Fred chemotherapy and special hormones to kill the cancer cells. His girlfriend Mara has her suspicions about the processing plant across the reservoir of the town which she thinks is polluting the town water with baronium. The hormones make Fred have super strength which his chemo doctor, Dr. Wallabini doesn’t believe to be real but instead thinks he is making up stories. I thought the story was different but in a good way and it helped me understand a little bit about how people with cancer feel. It is really easy to tell patients with cancer to hope, to never give up, to keep fighting but it is harder to do. Fred felt that no one could realize his situation and didn’t have the correct support to be strong. His parents were genuinely concerned for him but Jon and Jeff saw him as the next big headline in the newspaper, not as a human being. Mara was always there for him and he appreciated her self-confidence determination to see things through till the end. The characters around Fred were described so realistically from the rich people in the town to the teachers in the high school. Another thing in the book that I liked was that Fred wasn’t afraid to be himself once he found out that he could be a hero and choose right over wrong. I would suggest that teens who want to read a short but inspiring story read "The Chemo Kid."

Title: "The Stolen One"
Author: Suzanne Crowley

Review: "The Stolen One" by Suzanne Crowley is a book about a girl named Katherine who lives with Anna Bab and her mother Grace Bab. Grace doesn’t tell Katherine who her real mother and father were but she raised Katherine as if she was her real daughter. Anna is very beautiful but deaf and Katherine is extremely beautiful but has a sharp tongue, and speaks openly, and usually doesn’t do as Grace tells her to. She wants to find out more about her parents and travels to London with Anna. She befriends the current queen, Queen Elizabeth and becomes a part of her inner circle of ladies who stitch and do embroidery on gowns for the Queen.

The book wasn’t as great as I expected it to be because it had way too much drama and detail that wasn’t necessary. I thought that Katherine would become cruel and strong at the same time but she just worshipped the Queen without thinking about her priorities first. After, finding out the truth about her parents I wanted her to somehow maybe make the book more epic and plan to kill the Queen. The story was very predictable and Katherine was very cruel to people in her life that cared for her the most. Her attitude was annoying at times and her willingness to be approved by the Queen was scary in a way that she was obsessed with her. I would read it once and then put it back on the shelf and never read it again.

Title: "Princess Academy"
Author: Shannon Hale

Review: "Princess Academy" is a book about a 14 year-old girl named Miri who lives with her father and older sister in a mountain village known as Mount Eskel. The most valuable crop for trading in the village is linder which is a smooth stone that can be found in the linder quarry. Every year traders come to Mount Eskel to trade their goods for the linder before the harsh winter can arrive. Miri dreams to work in the quarry but believes that the reason she is not allowed to work in the linder quarry along with the men and women of the village is because she is weak and frail. Mount Eskel is a territory of the country Danland and people who do not live in this territory are known as lowlanders. A messenger is sent to Mount Eskel because the King’s priests have divined that the future bride of the heir to Danland will come from that village. An academy is started to train all the girls in the village to become appropriate young ladies fit to be the princess and wife of Prince Steffan, the son of the current King of Danland. Olana Mansdaughter, former tutor of Prince Steffan’s cousins was sent from the palace to tutor the village girls. I loved this heart felt story because the author realistically showed how girls compete and envy one another for the simplest things in life. Miri had a strong mind even if she wasn’t allowed in the quarries which made her character much more exciting. I appreciated how the author would include details of the mountain village, the mountain itself, and the quarry. Prince Steffan was another favorite character of mine because he wasn’t a player nor was he stupid and annoying. He was very handsome and also was very polite to all the girls no matter who the girl was. Olana was harsh when punishing the girls but that didn’t stop Miri from standing up to her. Miri believed that in order to do the right thing sometimes rules needed to be broken, which the other village girls were angry with her for. The story was very well written and I enjoyed the endless changes that did not help me predict the ending. I would recommend this book to teens who want to read a book with a strong lead female character and a good ending.

Review: This is by far one of the best manga I have ever read. It has adventure and action on every page. The story line hooks you at every turn. "Bleach" is about a high school-er named Ichigo Kurosaki. He encounters a hollow one day and has no means of running from it, so a soul reaper named Rukia comes to help him. To her surprise Ichigo could see her and the hollow, but the hollow attacked and majorly hurt Rukia. She told Ichigo to take some of her powers but he takes all of her powers and becomes a substitute soul reaper. This book is about his adventures as a soul reaper and perils that he faces.

Title: "Regarding the Bathrooms"

Review: "Regarding the Bathrooms" and all the other books in the "Regarding the" series are all quick reads. I thought that the book format was really cool because it is in the format of letters and newspapers going back and forth from Geyser Creek Middle School and Florence Waters. In the series, the Geyser Creek Middle School always is getting a renovation done, but it is always done by Florence Waters. She did all of the renovations at Geyser Creek Middle School from the sink to the trees. I like these books because they are really good reads and you learn a lot from them, like in "Regarding the Trees," you learn how to speak Italian words. Every job that Florence does, it is outrageous. Like the sink that she built in "Regarding the Sink." It was a very big sink. It looked like a stream of water. Title: "Curtain Call"
Author: Eminem

Review: Eminem's CD of the album "Curtain Call" provides a little something for everyone. With songs like "Stan" featuring Dido, and "Sing for the Moment", which Aerosmith is even included in, it shows that not every song is just rap. In this album, Eminem expanded the boundaries and tried new things in his music. His risk has paid off and I believe this is one of his best albums. I highly recommend listening to this CD because those who don't like rap can still appreciate the other types of music blended into the songs, therefore making the CD enjoyable for more than just rap listeners.

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of? Also, this CD reminded me of the his other Album called Encore, because they both shared some of the same kind of blended music and once again, wasn't just rap.

Title: "The Dark City"
Author: Catherine Fisher

Review: "The Dark City" is a book that always has something changing or happening. There is a thick plot that takes a little time getting used to but once everything is clear about what's going on, the book is fantastic. The setting is in a world crumbling to destruction in a planet other than earth. The basic goal in the end, is to try to save it. This world revolves around many different gods but yet they keep the focus of one main god throughout. This is a book that can easily get you hooked on the series and won't allow you to stop reading until you reach the final page. I recommend reading this book, but only if you plan to read the next three books in the four book series, because at the end, certain questions will be answered that may have seemed like total confusion in the beginning.

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of? This book reminds me of the Harry Potter books because in a magical and mythological sense because they both contain much of the fantasy aspect and both are books with that are very creative and imaginative.

Title: "Animal Farm"
Author: George Orwell

Review: Not having a choice whether to read this book or not, I still ended up enjoying it. Even though it had much to do with World War II, the aspect of the animals and the farm can draw you away from even thinking about World War II and just get you caught up in the book. The reason why I enjoyed this book was because it wasn't cold hard facts of non-fiction history. It was history with a twist. The creativeness of putting a war into the form of animals astounds me, and was the main reason why I liked this book so much. With a normal book about World War II I would have probably fallen asleep at the first page, but when I read this book I was instantly interested. I recommend this book to anyone, for the sole reason that even if you know nothing about World War II, it's still a great read.

What other books, music, or movies did this one remind you of? This book reminds me of "The Diary of Anne Frank" in the historical aspect, they both talk about history in a different way. One way was through the eyes of a little girl, and the other way was through the life of an animal.

Author: J. K. Rowling

Review: This book is about a boy who lives as a wizard in a magical world and is one day invited to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry while living with his aunt and uncle and their son. It is interesting and has a consistent "magical" theme. It contains various changes and unexpected events. I recommend reading it, but only if you're planning to read the next books in the series.

I also loved the entire series and was sad to see it end. Come on J. K. Rowling; it's time for your next teen/kids series! -- Denise J., Teen Librarian

Title: "Of Mice and Men"
Author: John Steinbeck

Review: This book is about a man named George who has to take care of another man named Lenny, who has a mental disability, while they set out to find a job and work on a farm. It is a very short book. Kind of boring. Cyclical throughout the book; but is not very interesting and has a lot to do with the Dust Bowl which isn't very interesting of a topic to me. Would much rather read something other than this book.

Title: "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"
Author: Mark Twain

Review: I would not recommend this book to anyone. Although it is considered a classic I did not enjoy reading it and the dialect was terrible. I don't think this book would be enjoyable for any teen but I think an adult would appreciate this classic much more.

Title: "Big Nate and Friends"
Author: Lincoln Pierce

Review: "Big Nate and Friends" is a hilarious book followed by some stupidity (thanks to Nate). In this book, Nate will go through twists and turns along with his BFFs, Teddy and Francis who are (rarely) supporting him. Nate's soul can finally rest in peace as he got a score higher than Gina when she receives detention. Though the best part of the book (or at least for Nate) is when Mrs. Godfrey (A.K.A. Godzilla) was supporting Nate!!! How does Nate's "love-hate" relationship turn out with Gina (the geek)? When Artur, a student from Belarus, enters in Nate's life, he starts feeling jealous as he surpasses Nate in many ways... I recommend this book to anyone that can read if they are willing to have a sensational time.

Title: "The One and Only Ivan"
Author: Katherine Applegate

Review: "The One and Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate is a novel about a gorilla that lives in the Big Top Mall with and elderly elephant named Stella, a stray dog named Bob, and many other circus animals. Ivan is the only gorilla in the circus and there is only one of every animal in the circus. Ivan tells about his experience of life at the Big Top Mall about the children putting there slobbery hands all over his domain windows and what the humans have in the mall. Ivan has connections with some humans. The owner of the Big Top Mall is Mack. Mack found Ivan when he was little and he and his ex-wife took care of him and taught Ivan how to do things like a normal child. Mack then opened the Big Top Mall and put Ivan in it. Stella was the only elephant in the circus until little Ruby came along. Ruby is a sweet little elephant who was shipped from far away to the Big Top Mall. Stella and Ivan know what every thing is around the Mall but Ruby has to learn from Stella and Ivan what a cotton candy maker is, what zoos are, what people do, etc. When Ruby learned about the zoo, she tells Stella and Ivan what happened to her family. Ruby refuses at first to go into a zoo because she says that she has all that she wants at the Big Top Mall. When George (The nighttime cleaner) and his daughter Julia go to work every night, Julia doesn't do her homework like she is told. She usually talks to Stella, Ivan and Bob about drawings and other things or she draws them doing things that they could never do like flying. One day Julia feels bad for the animals and asks her dad if they could try to move them into a zoo. They try extremely hard to find a way to get them into a zoo. Read "The One and Only Ivan" to experience the life on Ivan, the mighty silverback.

REVIEW: A happy and triumphant ending to an amazing, action-packed, exciting, adventurous, magical series! A good idea to read the series in order, but having this book waiting at the end is a great way of ending the series.

The series is about clans of cats that live in the forest and the adventures of the main character Firestar, a tom with a blazing orange coat. This book is about Firestar's first dream at the moonstone, where he receives his nine lives as a leader and is given a terrifying warning. REVIEW: If you like scary stories, you should read "Attack of the Vampire Weenies" by David Lubar. This book has short stories which are about 2-10 pages long. The ends of the stories leave you in a cliff hanger, so you can make up the ending of the story, which I really like. My favorite story from the book was "Gee!Ography." It is about a boy who never pays attention in history class and they had a "History Bee" and they were asked questions about things that they learned in class. The boy says all of these random things and he almost answered all of the questions correctly. I think that you should read this book because it is a nice book that you could read in one sitting, because they are great stories.

REVIEW: A wonderful start to the series, this book takes place in England in the Victorian Era. Tessa Gray, a young girl from New York, has come to England to live with her brother (after her aunt died). But when things don't go as expected, Tessa sees herself being pulled to another world of vampires, werewolves, faeries, warlocks, and... Shadowhunters. Tessa also discovered that she has the power to change into any person in the world as long as she has an item that the person once had or has (she can also change into an already dead person). And a person, anonymously named the Magister wants that power. Tessa must seek shelter from the Shadowhunters, for the Magister also proves a threat to them as well. Find out what happens in this action packed book also with a little romance in the air.
